Although skin & ear symptoms may appear suddenly, these problems have been developing over a long period of time, thus there's a great hidden mass of  "a mystery problem" they carry and the skin & ear problems are merely the visible “tip of the iceberg” for the body of the real cause lying below the surface.
I have combined skin and ear symptoms together since the external ears are essentially part of the skin. Both organs originate form the same type of tissue in the embryo and they generally respond similarly when illness occurs. They also seem to have a large capacity for disease in the sense that the body can limit disease symptoms to the skin & ears for a long time, even though the illness is worsening systemically.
